Not trying to steal anyones thunder, but I figured this was worthy of its own post. CT state police with the Mustang 5.0 notch Troop E used to run on 395 (they had a white one too), and I think F used to run this MX-6. And you think they ran these and didn't bait anyone with them? PPfft
another pic of the MX

Always liked the MX-6. I autocrossed it's sister car...the 2nd generation Probe when new and enjoyed it.

IL State Police use a 7th gen Malibu unmarked sometimes. I about shit when I saw the thing with someone pulled over and lights flashing! No SR20, but it's a low option gray car that looks like this.

Our sheriff's also have a blacked out Charger with custom rims (Pep Boys style). It has those crazy decals where you can't see them unless the light hits it just right. So technically not unmarked.

My 4.6 Thunderbird was actually an unmarked car before I got my hands on it. I never got a good picture, but this is identical minus a few extra attenae on the back end. I can't recall where they came from, but the lot I got it from also had a red one. Christmas police T-birds?

We have those in West Lafayette too. There's only one black GT in town and the police own it so luckily it's easy to spot.

They used one of these in East Lansing (City that Michigan State University is in) during the "welcome week" which is basically everyone showing up a week early for school and getting smashed the whole time.
Least suspecting vehicle you could ever find when it approaches you at night

In central Alberta, only a pickup truck can fit in when unmarked. My town used to have one unmarked gold coloured crown vic i don't think it fooled anyone. Now they have unmarked white chevy trucks and Ford pickups for photoradar..

They designed them that way, at least in Toronto, specifically for people who try that. Here they're called "stealth cruisers", since they're still marked, but it's more difficult to spot.
I don't understand why "it's not fair that I didn't know there was a cop there that caught me breaking the law" is a valid defence, honestly.

if it makes you feel better the two cops who popped out of it to question me and my buddies were both quite fit, and different genders lol.
I don't see as many overweight cops as the stereotypes encourage.
Also, I used to teach Judo to 2 Lansing SWAT Officers. Not guys I want to piss off now lol. Trained in EVERYTHING

I've seen those F150s before...they're scary.
IN state police back in 1996 or so had a green, unmarked LT1 Camaro that was always patrolling US30 and US31. It was absolutely nasty, but I saw it every time I went my my grandparent's house, which was several times a year.

Naperville, IL has a Dodge Magnum that is pretty stealthy. I haven't seen it for a while, but it's hard to detect without a radar detector.
The one I really need to get a picture of is the minivan. It was some completely unnoticable Caravan or similar, but I about crapped myself as it turned on its lights right in front of me. Only saw it twice, but failed to get a picture either time.

Hartford PD has a early 2000's Mustang GT that they like to bait people with. I got to see it in action over by Colt Park the cop probably got 3-4 cars within an hour, it was absolutely hysterical to watch.

My grandparents live in Birmingham, AL. Those cops are all over it. They have a Porsche 911, a couple of old soccer mom vans they probably repo'd, F150's (which in rural America is super scary), Mustangs, Impalas, and Chargers all in colors that aren't typical... They also hide out in the back of dodge caravans marked as park rangers or community clean up crew vehicles or even ride in semi-trucks, all for marking people to get pulled over down the road.

Lodi, WI has an unmarked Mercury Mariner.
The police chief of Wisconsin Dells drives an unmarked white Toyota Camry.
Neither of which comes close to the newest unmarked vehicle in the fleet for Neenah, WI:

Neenah's MRAP is for the SWAT team. The only changes from U.S. Military spec are the removal of the turret. Residents thought the police were going to shoot at them from the turret and complained. It still is unmarked.
Neenah has not had a murder reported since 2008. Compared to national averages, Neenah has half the property crimes and 66% less violent crime.

Is that why they do it? I always though an "undercover" cop could pull you over same as anyone else.
Of course deep cover cops often aren't concerned about minor traffic violations. I met one randomly once.

we just got one for the swat team one town south of me. They have had one murder in 12 years or something crazy like that. Just a ridiculous waste of maintenance monies. Only time I see it has been in parades, which is stupid. Looked like those parades in Korea where they pull out all the big artillery

Illinois State Police used to have a completely unmarked silver Pontiac Grand Prix, and a completely unmarked green Jeep Cherokee XJ. They even had "soft plates" (regular, nongovernmental plates). They also had a couple of Mustangs, and a bunch of Camaros.
My old neighbor patrolled in one of the Camaros. It was a "reward" for making a couple of big drug busts.
